- I love research. Although it sometimes wears on my brain, I adore going through records and finding out what people have written about, sometimes the most random topics.
- Love, love, love foreign language. I consider myself a novice, even though I have a degree in French and will be teaching it come August. But I would like to re-learn German and take up Italian. Has anyone used Rosetta Stone? I will eventually cave in and learn Spanish. I think I've avoided it because it doesn't seem all that foreign in this country... I may not understand it, but still.
- like to travel.... I resist the word loooove because I get a tad bit stressed. I haven't created a list of where I would like to travel because of the fact that I'll immediately become depressed because I know I would need to live 3 lifetimes to travel everywhere!
- Love the fam. I never imagined I would ever be as close as I am to my sisters. It's great. They know a lot about me, and we actually ENJOY spending time together. My Dad is the reason I can't find a good man; no one measures up! And my mom... well, that'll be another post. But I love her, of course.
- Audio-visual entertainment.... AKA film and television. If you all could view my other blog... yeah, you'd have ample evidence for that.
- Photography. I have no talent for it, but I really appreciate those who do.

Some things I love
I read my last post and decided that it was a little negative. I really don't want to look like a pessimistic jerk, so I'm taking this opportunity to write about some things I like, and some things I loooove.

I've used Rosetta Stone - I own it, actually (thank you Thailand!) Although I've had copies of it for quite a while, I've never really expressly used it for language learning -- I sort of did the intro lessons and then got bored, because my Indonesian and Thai were ahead of that -- I never actually got the gumption to do the advanced lessons.
I'm going to reviewing the English sections to use at school here and the Russian section to uh, learn Russian, so I'll let you know how it goes.
From playing around with the English sections, it's pretty impressive - it covers vocabulary, grammar, writing (typing), visual recognition (pictures and words), pronunciation, etc. The only other types of programs I've used in the past for self-language learning have been tapes and Rosetta Stone is a hell of a lot more interactive than that. However, I don't think it's worth the super spendy price tag that it's marketed for..
If you're trying to learn multiple languages off of it, you might find it boring. It uses a lot of the same visual images for each language set and follows the exact same format for each, so I imagine it gets repetitive.
Thanks, Suzy! Let me know how learning Russian works out for you. I swear, you are a language-learning MACHINE and should probably go by the nickname Rosetta Sponge.
Maybe Rosetta Confused. I've broken out in Indonesian more than once when I've either totally forgotten the Ukrainian or was trying to talk very fast/excitedly. I did that in front of my class once (last time I take a bloody kids phone and answer it, I tell you that!)
AWKWARD to say the least.
Anyway, depending on what language you want, I might have it and be able to help you out when I'm home in August. email me.
